A Fine Art Wedding Editorial at Domaine La Capitaine

Gland, Vaud — Domaine La Capitaine · September 2026

There are places that carry time without being worn by it. Domaine La Capitaine, in Gland, belongs to that rare family: nine generations of winegrowers, rows of vines running down to Lake Geneva, and that September light — ripe, golden, almost grave — that belongs to the harvest season alone. It was here, one Monday in mid-September, that we imagined this editorial: a celebration of bridal elegance, born of the Vaud terroir.

A living estate, between vines and lake. La Capitaine is not a backdrop: it is a home. Certified biodynamic, recognisable by its signature blue bottles, the estate tends the Côte with a quiet exactingness. All around, the rows of vines descend towards the water; beyond, across the lake, the line of the Alps holds the whole horizon. We let the place set the tempo — the lawn, the tall trees, the timber of a chalet, the earth still warm from the ending summer.

A collector's roadster to open the scene. A car from another age set the tone from the very first frames: a cream body, wire wheels, chrome exhaust pipes running the length of the bonnet, red leather upholstery. Parked at the edge of the vines with the lake and the Alps behind it, the bride beneath a white parasol and the groom at the wheel, it establishes that hushed, cinematic atmosphere I always seek — the one where luxury whispers rather than announces itself.

The silhouette, by Atelier Pointillé. The gown — an Atelier Pointillé creation — traces an elegance with nothing to prove: a dense satin, a fitted bodice that holds the line, a full skirt that takes the wind and a train that follows across the grass. A headband holds the chignon; a string of pearls, and nothing else. In front of the chalet, in black and white, she does not pose — she laughs, and the gown does the rest.

The complexion, the hair — the art of almost nothing. Beauty, entrusted to Iryna and Maquillage Genève, followed the same line: a luminous complexion, a low chignon beneath the headband, that impression of the natural which, in truth, demands the greatest care. Under the lens, the September light did the rest — it sculpts without hardening, it warms without betraying. And when the bride seized a bottle from the estate and raised it, laughing, in the middle of the lawn, no one directed a thing: it was exactly the image I was looking for.

The true gesture — a bottle raised, a laugh

"Luxury, here, is not added: it is revealed. A vine, a light, a true gesture — and the rest falls away."

The wedding cake, like a piece of goldsmithing. On a bronze column, between the car and the estate's white marquees, the cake by Universsa Cakes brought its note of sweetness: three tiers of clean white, one tier veiled in gold leaf, a few white orchids set like jewels. An indulgence conceived as a decorative object — artisanal, precise, without ostentation.

At the table, between the rows. The late afternoon played out on a white cloth laid among the vines, red roses for the only decoration and the Alps as a backdrop. The cake was cut, there was laughter with mouths full, and the groom poured the estate's own cuvée — La Capitaine's blue bottle, served on the very ground where it was born. It is this late-day light, warm and raking, that gives the images their grain, between brilliance and restraint. Léo Cox, on camera, caught its movement: a short film, at eye level, to extend what photography holds still.

This editorial owes everything to those who dreamed it with me: Ricardo, wedding planner; Atelier Pointillé, Universsa Cakes, Iryna and Maquillage Genève; Léo Cox behind the camera; the models, who lent their grace to the story; and Domaine La Capitaine, which offered the most beautiful of settings. This is how I love to work: a clear artistic direction, houses chosen with care, and a photography that seeks true emotion over effect.
