A Grand Luxury Wedding Editorial at Château de Crassy

Divonne-les-Bains, Ain — Château de Crassy · September 2026
There are houses that know nothing of half measures. Château de Crassy — eighteenth century, set on thirty-two hectares of parkland at Divonne-les-Bains, twenty minutes from Geneva — is one of them: a classical French façade, and behind the tall windows, Orient-inspired salons where gold, crystal and velvet hold court. It was here, for the length of an editorial, that we chose to celebrate a luxury without restraint — not accumulation, but mastered abundance, that way the great houses have of saying everything without ever raising their voice.
Getting ready, behind the tall windows. It all began in the hush of the bedrooms. The gown, hung against the light before a French window, lace spread beneath a crystal chandelier — already an image, before it was even worn. Nearby, the groom adjusted his bow tie in a cabinet of marble and gold, the light sliding over the panelling. Nothing was hurried; everything was held.

Two silhouettes, a single standard. This editorial sets two visions of the bride in dialogue. The first, in off-the-shoulder ivory satin, tulle gloves and a string of pearls — a clean, almost architectural line that nothing comes to clutter. The second, in long-sleeved lace, more romantic, its train trailing across the marble. Two gowns, two temperaments, and the same idea of luxury: the kind worn with ease.

In the salons, the Orient and gold. Inside, the château reveals its other face: deep damasks, crimson curtains, patterned carpets, chandeliers falling like rain. The couple descends the grand staircase with its gilded iron rail; in a red-and-gold salon, a string trio — harp, cello, violin — accompanies the moment. The music is no backdrop: it sets the tempo.

"Grand luxury is not excess: it is abundance held in hand. A château that dares gold, a bride who dares simplicity — and balance, suddenly, becomes obvious."
The arrival, red carpet and parasols. The park, for its part, called for light. On the château steps, a red carpet unrolled, a harpist and a violin to open the proceedings, white parasols turning in the late-summer sun. The guests, in tuxedos and deep-toned gowns, already composed a tableau — that processional elegance one does not stage, and merely catches at the right moment.

The ceremony, facing the park. On the stone forecourt, white chairs in a half-circle, parasols raised like so many corollas, and at the end of the red aisle, a draped altar strewn with scarlet roses. The bride came forward on the arm of a moved father, lace sweeping the pale stone. Beyond, nothing but the deep green of century-old trees.

The table, burgundy and crystal. In the park, a long table laid like a Flemish still life: burgundy velvet runners over white linen, crystal ghost chairs, garnet calla lilies and ivory roses, bunches of grapes and split figs, cut glasses and little pleated-shade lamps. Each setting carried its illuminated menu. And on the terrace, the harp took up again, suspended above the sea of greenery.

The finale, in showers of light. At the blue hour, the château caught fire — not with flames, but with a rain of silver sparks flung out on either side of the façade, a vast fan above the rooftops. At the centre, the couple embraced, the bridesmaids in aubergine on either side, red roses at their feet. One kiss, and all the excess of the place held in that single second.
An editorial of this scale is dreamed by many hands: Château de Crassy for a setting, the houses that lent gowns, flowers, music and light, and the models who gave them life. This is how I love to work — a bold artistic direction, partners chosen with care, and a photography that seeks true emotion at the very heart of splendour.
